Intra-Lock® Dental Implants

Intra-Lock® Dental Implants

Dental implants are the preferred choice of many patients and dentists as a means to replace missing teeth. Implants are constructed from titanium and mimic the structure of natural teeth. Dental implants add stability to prosthetics, enhance confidence, and restore normal chewing, biting and speaking functions.

Intra-Lock ® has created a wide range of implant types, so almost every patient can benefit from implant technology.

Here is a brief overview of the different kinds of Intra-Lock ® implants:

Internal Connection Implants (InDex™) – These implants are optimized for one-stage procedures. The design adds stability and enhanced biocompatibility, allowing the prosthesis to better withstand external forces and to promote bone integration and healing.

External Connection Implants (Unihex ™) – These implants are sturdy, long-lasting and ideal for holding dentures and other prosthetics in place. The platforms of the screws come in several different sizes.

MDL® Small Diameter Implants – These implants restore functionality and stability quicker than the full-sized alternative. The placement procedure is less invasive and minimal healing time is required between treatments. MDL® implants are generally used to anchor overdentures.

MILO ® Implants – The featured component of MILO implants is the built-in O-Ball abutment. The O-ball is added to simplify placement of the prosthetic, converting removable restorations to fixed teeth.

What are the benefits of Intra-Lock ® implants?

Intra-Lock ® implants are available in a variety of styles to accommodate patient oral health issues, such as bone loss and other problems at the treatment site. These implants can be used in conjunction with dentures, bridges and crowns and encourage quicker healing after placement.

Some of the other advantages of Intra-Lock ® implants include:

  • Cost-effectiveness

  • High success rate

  • Reduced discomfort

  • Precision placement

  • Treatment flexibility

What is the procedure for placing Intra-Lock ® implants?

The exact nature of the placement procedure will vary with the individual and type of implants being fitted. However, one commonality of treatment planning is that oral health professionals utilize x-rays and in-depth examinations to determine the optimal placement site. Usually, implant placement is a two-step procedure.

Here is an overview of the first stage of implant placement:

  • A local anesthetic is administered

  • An incision is made into the gum tissue to expose the placement site

  • A drill is used to create a tiny hole in the jawbone

  • The Intra-Lock ® implant is either tapped or screwed in place and covered with a cap

  • Soft tissue is sutured closed

As treatment methods vary, individual experiences may differ. Innovation in implant processes allows for fewer steps of the overall procedure. As Intra-Lock® implants are designed for efficient care, it’s important to ask your doctor what will be involved in your recommended procedure.

Once healing and integration of your implant is complete, bite impressions are taken and the prosthesis is created. Intra-Lock ® implants create beautiful smiles and can last for a lifetime with proper care.
