The Connection Between Straight Teeth and Overall Health

Even though enhancing your smile is an excellent reason to straighten your teeth, it is worth noting that misaligned teeth do not only affect your looks, but also your overall health.

Here is how it can have harmful effects on you:

  • Poor Digestion – If your teeth do not meet properly when you chew your food, your food won’t be chewed well enough, causing digestion issues.
  • Cavities and Gum Disease - Overcrowded teeth make it hard for you to reach all your teeth when you brush, increasing the risk of cavities and gum disease.
  • Issues with Speech – When it comes to issues with your speech, misaligned teeth are not only a cosmetic issue anymore, your teeth are an element of how you produce sounds when you talk, straight teeth help your pronunciation and articulation.

Why Our Practice Chooses Invisalign® to Straighten Your Teeth

Invisalign aligners are plastic trays that help you straighten your teeth discreetly. Depending on how severe your teeth are misaligned, Dr. Aziz will let you know if clear braces are a suitable option for you. Benefits of Invisalign include:

Discreet Treatment - Invisalign braces are transparent, so no one will notice the aligners won’t stand out in your smile during the straightening process.

Allows for Better Hygiene - These braces are removable. All you need to do is remove your aligners to eat, drink, and brush your teeth freely, and then wear your aligners once again.

Does Not Require a Lifestyle Change - If you travel a lot, it isn’t a problem. Just let us know, and we will give you multiple sets of braces that you can use until you’re able to come back for an appointment.

Works Fast - Unlike other available methods, Invisalign typically takes 12-18 months to efficiently straighten your teeth.

Show Off Your Bright Smile with Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening is a popular cosmetic treatment that gives your smile a boost and lifts your spirit. At our practice, we offer two methods of professional teeth whitening that you can choose from; these options are in-office whitening and take-home whitening kits.

In-Office Professional Whitening - As the name implies, this process takes place in the dental office. It is fast and can give you brighter teeth for up to 8 shades. The whole process is done in a single visit that takes between 45-90 minutes!

Professional Take-Home Ultradent Opalescence™ Whitening Kits - If you prefer whitening your teeth at your own pace, this method will conveniently help you take it gradually. We provide you with customized dental trays and a professional high-concentration whitening gel. The personalized trays will help you keep the whitening solution even across your entire smile.

Does Teeth Whitening Last Forever?

No. The more you care for your teeth and brush and floss frequently, the longer your teeth whitening will last. Our professional dental team will also provide you with post-whitening instructions to help you give your teeth the care they need and maintain your bright white teeth longer.

Are Veneers and Dental Bonding Good Options If Teeth Whitening Didn’t Work for Me?

Yes. Teeth whitening works well to get rid of surface stains that usually result from food, drinks, and tobacco use.

If your teeth were stained in an accident or due to certain medications, the resulting stains are formed below the tooth surface and so teeth whitening might not be a suitable option. In this case, veneers or bonding will be great options to consider.

What Are Veneers?

Veneers are porcelain covers that our dentist fixes to the front surface of your teeth. They look exactly like natural teeth and are designed to give your teeth a new shape, size, or color.

How Long Can Veneers Last?

Veneers can last for decades if properly cared for. We recommend that you brush and floss frequently and avoid chewing hard foods to help keep your veneers beautiful for a long time.

What is Dental Bonding?

Composite bonding is an affordable way to repair minor chips, breaks, or unwanted gaps. The tooth-colored material adheres to your natural enamel to give your smile a natural appearance. Your dentist will renew the shape of your tooth in one appointment.

Can Bonding Get Stained Over Time?

Unlike porcelain crowns and veneers, dental bonding is made of dental resin, which can stain over time but not as easy as your natural enamel. With regular care and frequent brushing, you can extend the life of your restored tooth and preserve a natural-looking smile.

Which Treatment is Better: Veneers or Bonding?

It depends on your specific situation. Dr. Aziz will examine your teeth and discuss all your options with great honesty. We give you options that suit your lifestyle and budget.

Save Your Tooth With Composite Fillings

To restore decayed teeth and preserve your tooth structure, our practice uses composite tooth-colored fillings. These blend in seamlessly with your teeth and do not stand out when you smile, preserving your naturally beautiful smile.

Durable Porcelain Crowns To Restore Your Smile

If a tooth gets severely decayed, a filling won’t be suitable. At that time, our talented dentist will protect your tooth from further damage using a crown. Porcelain crowns are tooth-colored and won’t be visible when you open your mouth. They are durable and won’t chip easily.

Does Your Practice Treat Gum Disease?

Yes. Dr. Aziz and his experienced team take gum disease seriously. In fact, it is a focus in your introductory exam.

We are firm believers that without a foundation of healthy gums, your cosmetic treatment won’t last. We postpone cosmetic service until we can address gum disease and make sure your gums are in perfect condition.

Is Gum Disease A Severe Condition?

The severity of gum disease depends on which stage you are in. There are three phases of gum disease:

  • Gingivitis: This is an early phase of gum disease. The build-up of plaque in the gum line results in inflammation. Fortunately, the damage caused to the gums at this stage is reversible.
  • Periodontitis: At this stage, the damage starts seeps deeper under the gum line with the bacteria spreading to the bone that surrounds and supports your teeth and gums. We can provide you with proper gum treatment to help rid the infection and prevent further damage.
  • Advanced Periodontitis: The final stage of gum disease. This is when the patient starts to lose teeth, since the tissue and bone supporting the teeth are destroyed, causing teeth to shift. After eliminating the infection, we may need to remove any affected teeth and replace them.

What is Gum Contouring and Reshaping?

close up of beautiful healthy smile

If your gum tissue is covering too much of your teeth, the result is a gummy smile, and if it covers too little, you might have lost gum volume due to gum disease. In both cases, you will need tissue enhancements to restore your appealing smile once again.

Gum contouring and reshaping is a procedure to transform or restore gum tissue when it is affecting your smile, thus making your gums look healthy and sleek. Dr. Aziz is experienced at this procedure and ready to provide you with the help you need to bring back your lively smile.
